Advanced X10 Examples Print E-mail

As you get into more advanced setups, you may want to expand into different modules.  To try to keep things consistent, I've stuck with the same timer (transmitter) and receivers in these examples.  However keep in mind that there are many other advanced modules that may be better suited for you situation.  As long as the module you are thinking about speaks X10, it should integrate with your setup.

Perhaps you have an inflatable snow globe and you'd like to have it running during the day (since a puddle of fabric on your lawn looks silly) as well as during your show.  You would however like to shut it off overnight to discourage vandalism.  On top of that, you'd like to reduce problems with 'fogging' of the interior.  Simply plug your inflatable into it's own receiver on it's own unit code and program your timer with a different schedule than your lights:

XPMT1 Timer -> SR227 Super Socket (A2) -> Wreath & right side of house
            -> SR227 Super Socket (A3) -> Tree & left side of house.
            -> FWLROD Outdoor Receiver (A4) -> Inflatable Snow Globe

Now program your timer/transmitter like this:

 8:00 AM -> A4 ON  (turns on the inflatable)
 6:30 PM -> A4 OFF (turns off the inflatable and gives it time for all the hot day-time air to escape)
 7:00 PM -> A2 ON, A3 ON, A4 ON (turn on all the lights and the inflatable)
10:00 PM -> A2 OFF, A3 OFF, A4 OFF (turn everything off for the night)

Need some security lighting?  Add another receiver and program your timer:

XPMT1 Timer -> SR227 Super Socket (A2) -> Wreath & right side of house
            -> SR227 Super Socket (A3) -> Tree & left side of house.
            -> FWLROD Outdoor Receiver (A4) -> Inflatable Snow Globe
            -> FWLROD Outdoor Receiver (A5) -> Security Light

Set your schedule as follows:

 6:00 AM -> A5 OFF (turn off security light)
 8:00 AM -> A4 ON  (turns on the inflatable)
 6:30 PM -> A4 OFF (turns off the inflatable and gives it time for all the hot day-time air to escape)
 7:00 PM -> A2 ON, A3 ON, A4 ON (turn on all the lights and the inflatable)
10:00 PM -> A2 OFF, A3 OFF, A4 OFF, A5 ON (turn everything off for the night, turn on the security light)

Need some additional security?  Place an RR501 Transceiver in a weatherproof box near a motion sensor and know when someone comes into your yard. Since this is on a different house code, you could add this to any of the previous samples.

MS16A Active Eye Motion Sensor (wireless) -->
RR501 Transceiver -> FWLROD Outdoor Receiver (B2) -> Security Light
                  -> LM465 Lamp Module (B2) -> Indoor light
                  -> SC546A Remote Chime (B2)
